In order to publish Tableau reports to Civis Platform, you may require access to the Civis virtual private network (VPN). Only users who build or publish reports need VPN access; users do not need VPN access to view dashboards on Platform. VPN access is not configured for users by default. If you are unsure if your account has been configured for VPN access or to request access please contact support@civisanalytics.com for assistance.
- Download the AWS VPN Client app for desktop from here: https://aws.amazon.com/vpn/client-vpn-download/
- Install the AWS VPN Client application for your operating system
- Download the VPN configuration file from here: https://civis-public-shared.s3.amazonaws.com/vpn/civis-customer-vpn-config-2023-12-20.ovpn
**Note: Double-clicking the configuration file may not work. Please ensure you open the file via the VPN application as outlined in the steps below **
- Open the AWS VPN Client app
- Select File → Manage Profiles (For Mac users this is found in the upper left corner of your screen)
- Click Add Profile
- Enter a display name such as “Civis VPN”
- Select the configuration file you downloaded in step 4
- Click Add Profile. After completing this step you will see the newly added profile in the list of saved profiles.
- Click Done.
- Open the AWS VPN Client app, which you installed in Part 1.
- In the main AWS VPN Client app window, select the profile you just added and click Connect — you will be prompted to log in to the Civis Platform webpage.
- A moment after signing in to Civis Platform the AWS VPN Client app will display a warning dialog about unauthorized access. Click OK on that.
- A successful connection is indicated by the AWS VPN Client app saying “Connected”
