Many types of power user functionality in M-DIVE—such as querying data, importing files with M-DUP, or running scripts—require a connection to the underlying M-DIVE database. Before you can use any of these features, you will need to initialize this connection by setting a database password from within the M-DIVE platform.
Note: This database password is separate from your M-DIVE password. Most users will only need to set their database password one time in order to start using Power User features in M-DIVE, and then the platform will maintain access after the initial setup. Your regular M-DIVE password is what you will continue to use each time you log into the M-DIVE platform.
1) Go to the My Profile page of your M-DIVE account, or find it under the menu in the upper-right of the M-DIVE screen. |
2) Under section “Change Database Password” on the right hand side of the screen, input your M-DIVE password in the box that says “Current Civis Platform Password” on the right hand side of the page. |
3) Enter a new password in the “New Database Password” field. This does not need to be the same as your M-DIVE account password. |
4) Confirm your new database password by re-entering it in the “Database Password Confirmation” field. |
5) Click on the blue “Change Database Password” button. After a few seconds, you will receive a green banner success notification that your database password has been updated. |
6) You can confirm the configuration is set up correctly by running a basic query of the database. You can do this by navigating to the Query Editor and running ‘select 1’ to test your database connection. |
7) Once you see the ‘green check’ success notification below your query, you have successfully connected to the database. If you instead get an error message, please copy that message and send it to support@civisanalytics.com for further assistance.
Note: If you receive an email saying your password has been updated, you changed your M-DIVE account password, and NOT your database password.
