Background
As of November 2023, M-DIVE users can log in using Single Sign On (SSO). The process for using this differs for USAID users and all other users.
- USAID Users (anyone with a @usaid.gov email) are required to use USAID’s SSO login system. All USAID users will be automatically configured to use USAID’s SSO and cannot use the Login.gov option.
- Non-USAID Users can opt-in to SSO login through login.gov. Users must email support@civisanalytics.com or Megan Klingler (wvr1@cdc.gov) to opt-in and follow the instructions below.
Note: Your M-DIVE account email address must match the email address you use for Login.gov. If you would like to connect to M-DIVE using an existing Login.gov account, see “Can I use an existing Login.gov account to log into M-DIVE?”.
Steps for Configuring Login.gov
- Email support@civisanalytics.com or Megan Klingler (wvr1@cdc.gov) to say that you would like to opt in to use Login.gov for M-DIVE.
- Once you receive an email with the subject Authentication settings changed, go to the M-DIVE login page at https://platform.civisanalytics.com.
- Enter your M-DIVE username or email address and click “Next”.
- You should be automatically redirected to the USAID SSO page. Click on the Login.gov button for “All Implementing Partners and non-USAID employees”.
- You will be redirected to the Login.gov login screen.
- If you already have a Login.gov account tied to the same email address as your M-DIVE account email address, you may enter it here and proceed to Step 8.
- If you need to create a new Login.gov account to match your M-DIVE email address, click “Create an account.”
- Follow all instructions from Login.gov to create your new Login.gov account, including confirming your email address, setting a password, and enabling Multi Factor Authentication (MFA).
- See Login.gov's help documents for information about supported and recommended MFA options; Civis recommends the "Authenticator application", "Security key", and/or "Government employee ID" options, especially for users outside of the United States.
- See Extra considerations for US government employee PIV cards below for tips on using your PIV card.
- Once you have entered your password and MFA, you will be prompted to share your information with USAID - Identity. Here, confirm that the email address being shared matches the address used for your M-DIVE account. Click Agree and continue.
- You will be redirected to one additional USAID setup screen. Please enter a Display Name, Given Name (First Name), and Surname (Last Name/Family Name) for USAID to associate with your account. Click Continue.
- These fields are for reference only – they do not need to match either your information in Login.gov, or your account information in M-DIVE.
- You should be redirected back to M-DIVE. Click I agree to finish entering M-DIVE.
Congratulations, your setup is complete! For future logins, you may simply enter your account name or email address at https://platform.civisanalytics.com. You will be automatically redirected to Login.gov to use your new login information. Or, if you are already logged into Login.gov, you will be connected to M-DIVE directly.
Extra considerations for US government employee PIV cards
If you are an employee of CDC or another US Government agency, you may use your PIV card for authentication with Login.gov. To do so, choose “Government employee ID” on the Authentication Method Setup page. On the next screen, give your card a nickname, insert your PIV/CAC card into your card reader, and click “Add your PIV/CAC card”.
If you want to use your PIV/CAC card and already have an established Login.gov account with default “text and voice message” authentication; before logging into Login.gov click “Sign in with your government employee ID” (below the blue Sign in button) to set up the process.
